Dr Kapil S Lokare holds a PhD in Chemistry, Michigan State University, United States. He has held positions at various globally recognized institutions in the USA, Netherlands, Australia, and Germany and published scientific papers, book chapters and patents on topics ranging from olefin metathesis, C-H activation and functionalization of hydrocarbons (GtL), biomass valorization (bio-ethanol and lignin valorization) and written extensively on matters such as methane-to-methanol conversion, butanol synthesis, conversion of ethanol to higher hydrocarbons/higher value products, and selective deconstruction of biomass. Dr Kapil has designed novel research and development strategies to scale up biomass upgrading processes.

Dr Kapil has also been recognized as a thought leader in the renewables and environment sector and was invited to deliver testimony before the Fuels and Lubes industry in Singapore (F+L Week 2016). His research and analysis has been featured in the Biofuels Digest, The Energy Collective, BBI-International – The Ethanol Producer Magazine. 

Dr Kapil is experienced in converting ideas to successful business propositions and joint ventures, strong planning and facilitation skills, able to communicate effectively with all organizational levels, build relationships of trust and enlist the participation of team members. He has extensive experience in energy/environment legislation regulation and policies, investing in selected companies, joint ventures. Dr Kapil has also helped launch new bio-based start-ups and currently reside in Berlin, Germany.
